I was at my cabin and moved a piece of wood. What beauty it was. Didn't know what it was.Had to wait till I got home to look it up.It was so shiny and the ring was a brilliant yellow against the black. It was not afraid and just hung out.I am not afraid of snakes and just stared back and took in its beauty. My neighbor gave me some flowers in plastic pots and when I went to plant them in my bigger pot on my porch I noticed something at the bottom of the pot I thought it was a worm then it put its head up and looked at me. I realized it wasn't a worm it was a snake with a ring around its neck. There were 3 total they are hatchlings with not complete rings and no bright colors yet. They are very docile very curious and so cute. Iv never seen these types of snakes so o did some research. One of them regurgitated a piece of worm in to my hand. He was still cute after that. I set them up in to an aquarium until I find a better place to relocate them. They have not musked me yet they are so tiny.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09542591392613256141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6072479063452233450.post-75686329046522279702021-10-12T16:23:25.052-04:002021-10-12T16:23:25.052-04:00Just found a baby ring neck snake in some gravel o...Just found a baby ring neck snake in some gravel onour sidewalk. First time seeing a snake in Vermont that wasn’t a garter snake. I was tripped out at first but after looking it up and found they are virtually harmless we let go by the brook. Wouldn’t have killed it regardless but would have had game warden take it. It showed no signs of hostility. Hopefully it’s eating away at mosquitoes right now.Justin McAllisterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09429137564883321360noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6072479063452233450.post-38651913620993744072020-04-28T21:09:51.260-04:002020-04-28T21:09:51.260-04:00My preschooler and I were having fun in the garden...My preschooler and I were having fun in the garden today and happened upon one of these. At first I throught it was a bug the head was so small but then I saw the snake that was attached to it. It was daytime and 88 degrees outside. I have a small Maltese that walks though that area of my drive. Will it hurt my dog if it got near it? This snake is in Tn. Never saw a grown snake that small.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6072479063452233450.post-12328589168642085572017-11-30T13:20:40.494-05:002017-11-30T13:20:40.494-05:00Found a baby in Davie Florida very Striking in col...Found a baby in Davie Florida very Striking in color bright orange and black very nice gentle can i keep it or should i release her back to the wild what a beautyAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07966527953424759683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6072479063452233450.post-43693968089333034802017-09-14T21:19:44.846-04:002017-09-14T21:19:44.846-04:00Hi, I just found one of these snakes yesterday,it&...Hi, I just found one of these snakes yesterday,it's the frist time I ever seen one, I thought it was a work cause it was so small then I notice the ring around his neck at closer look realize it was a snake, am scared of snake but because this was so tiny I wasn't afraid, it was under my coon dog water bowl so I gently scoped it up an put it n abowl an took it to the fench line an let it go, just wanted to comment to let ya know that it was a surprise to find out what kind it was , Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04174287382045359818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6072479063452233450.post-77215875622619952502017-08-06T18:10:33.134-04:002017-08-06T18:10:33.134-04:00I have seen what I think is a ring neck twice once...I have seen what I think is a ring neck twice once in Avon, oh area and more recently in Greenwich ,oh but both of the ones I have came across had more of a grey color and pink or maybe orangeish color ring around the neck both were around 3" as well so maybe young or hatchlings that have not developed there color quite yet. We even found a very small one crawling inside our kitchen light once and one of them up in our child's room which is 2 1/2 stories above the ground. I as well have had them bite, but never initially. I just handled them a bit too long for their comfort. As Andy said, no need to fear their bite as it is completely painless. I've never seen them out west, where they have some STUNNING subspecies which grow much larger (and may possibly be split, from what I am to understand).jaredmizaninhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13105608831486294795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6072479063452233450.post-90443632609759257262012-11-30T10:34:40.729-05:002012-11-30T10:34:40.729-05:00Thanks for your comment Andy. Usually being found pocketed in little colonies. I have a couple of sure-fire spots to see them, but usually when they turn up it is cause for excitment. They also have the SMELLIEST musk known to snakes this side of a Black Rat Snake. And I have had a few try and bite, but they are too small cause any wounds.Andy Avramnoreply@blogger.com
